Let’s Build Something Incredible Together

Hey Florida builders, creators, and tinkerers!

Every year, something truly electric happens when our local tech scene comes together under one roof. Ideas that started on a whiteboard turn into live prototypes, casual hallway chats turn into lifelong friendships, and the sheer buzz of collaboration takes over.

Mark your calendars for November 7 and November 8: the DevFest Florida Hackathon is back, and we want you in the room. Head over to devfestflorida.com to lock in your spot.

Whether you spend your days writing backend logic, crafting intuitive UI/UX flows, keeping roadmaps on track as a project manager, or bringing 3D worlds to life, this weekend is built for you.

Why You Belong Here

Hackathons have a reputation for being all about caffeine-fueled, 48-hour coding marathons. While there will certainly be plenty of coffee, DevFest Florida is designed around something much bigger: community-driven impact and creative experimentation.

Here is why you should join us:

  • Real Cross-Disciplinary Teamwork: The best software doesn’t happen in a silo. Great apps need sharp user experience design, clear product scoping from project managers, solid architectural planning from developers, and creative storytelling. You will form teams with folks who balance out your skills.
  • A Sandbox to Try What’s Next: Have you been itching to test out an LLM workflow, take Flutter for a spin, experiment with a modern game engine, or build on cloud infrastructure without the constraints of your daily work backlog? This is your low-stakes playground.
  • Level Up Your Network: The person reviewing your pull request or brainstorming game mechanics with you on Saturday afternoon could easily become your future co-founder, mentor, or teammate down the road.

Powered by Our Incredible Community Partners

This hackathon isn’t pulled together in a vacuum. It represents the heart of Central Florida’s grassroots tech scene, made possible by organizations that show up for our community week after week, year after year.

Google Developer Groups (GDG)

As a global, volunteer-led movement backed by Google, GDG chapters worldwide empower technologists of all backgrounds to learn, build, and grow. DevFest is the flagship celebration of that mission. By connecting our local innovators with cutting-edge tools—from Android and Web to Google Cloud and AI—GDG provides the foundation for our builders to shine on a global stage.

Orlando Devs

Serving as Central Florida’s nonprofit tech backbone, Orlando Devs has spent years empowering local engineers through meetups, open-source initiatives, and mentorship. Their presence ensures that this hackathon isn’t just a one-off weekend, but a launchpad that feeds directly into Florida’s growing developer talent pipeline.

Indienomicon

Since 2013, Indienomicon has been the beating heart of Orlando’s independent game development scene. By hosting game jams, playtests, and showcases, they support digital artists, animators, sound designers, and developers. Their partnership brings world-class interactive media talent and sheer creative energy into this year’s hackathon.

Choose Your Track: Where Will You Make Your Mark?

To help focus your builds and give your team a clear goal, we’ve organized the weekend around three tracks:

DevFest Florida hackathon's Devs, Game Devs, and Data for Good tracks

1. Devs Track

This is the open canvas for core software engineers, system architects, and web specialists. Whether you’re architecting scalable APIs, building dynamic cross-platform web or mobile applications, or integrating machine learning models to solve everyday friction, this track is where code meets real-world utility.

2. Game Devs Track

Calling all gameplay programmers, technical artists, sound designers, and animators! With the backing of Indienomicon, this track invites you to produce playable prototypes, unique game loops, and interactive media experiences. Explore creative mechanics, test emerging rendering pipelines, and craft games that captivate players from the first frame.

3. Data for Good Track

Technology is at its best when it serves humanity. In this track, analysts, data scientists, designers, and developers will partner to address pressing societal challenges. Use open datasets, predictive analytics, and clear visualization dashboards to tackle issues like local civic accessibility, education, and growing learning communities. Build tools that empower communities and inform better decisions.
